Fantastic news for all Uber users. Uber Taxi in Prague just got cheaper, on average by 13%. It looks like Uber is still trying to find the best balance in pricing. After two (or maybe three) price increases, Uber Prague is now decreasing the price for the first time ever. It was an expected move, because other taxis were a better deal for short distances which took more time (due to traffic). Now, however, Uber pricing is very competitive. Prague Zoo is celebrating. For the first time in the 80 year history of elephants breeding, there has just been an elephant calf born, which was also conceived there. The calf is male and weighs 104 kilograms. The veterinarians managed the delivery well, even though there was a threat that the elephant “momma” might kill the calf as the result of stress. Zika, the virus that came into the centre of attention lately in many countries, appears to have arrived in the Czech Republic. “There is no reason to panic”, authorities say. The virus, that causes an infection called “Zika fever”, is feared most of all by pregnant women, since it has been proven that it may cause severe damages to the fetus. The Prague Police department accused six taxi drivers and one former official at City Hall for overcharging customers. Of course, all the customers were foreign tourists. The whole operation was really complicated, as detectives needed to monitor each taxi driver for enough rides to achieve the amount of 5.000 CZK or more, so it can be considered as felony. For monitoring they used actors, but also real tourists. They usually followed the taxi to its destination and then approached tourists to find out how much they paid for the ride.
