Travelers on a recent Ryanair flight from London to Prague got an unexpected seatmate – President Petr Pavel himself. A video capturing him boarding the low-cost carrier without any special treatment quickly spread across social media, leaving many surprised to see the head of state traveling just like anyone else.

According to Czech media, Pavel had been on a brief private trip to the UK, covering his own expenses. His flight landed at Prague’s Vaclav Havel Airport, where he arrived in the same way as hundreds of other passengers that evening.

It wasn’t the first time he opted for a regular airline: earlier this year he flew with Smartwings on holiday, where the only privilege he received was coffee served in a cup instead of a paper cup.

The president’s appearance on a budget airline came shortly after a packed week in the United States, where he spoke at the UN General Assembly, the UN Security Council, attended the opening of a Czech UNICEF exhibition, and delivered a speech at Harvard University.
