The Czech Republic’s capital has made dwelling in its streets yet more comfortable. There is a growing number of possibilities to charge your cell phone outdoors in Prague. It is possible on selected buses and in several parks, and new options are to come.

Because Prague’s official representatives are aware how annoying it is to run out of battery when you are out in the town, they have provided several options to recharge a mobile phone outdoors. Nowadays, it is possible on several bus lines and in a number of parks. By the end of 2016, a new “smart bus station” should also come into existence.

The buses on which you can charge your phone are equipped with USB chargers. Currently, you can find those on 12 buses, with many more to come. A mobile phone charging station can be found, for example, in the central park of Prague 13. Also, Prague 10 has a “charging pole”, in the park of “Malešice” quarter. It is inspired by similar equipment used in Dubai.

People are still getting used to this novelty and there are some, who do not know, what its purpose is. But we did not register any negative reactions,” the spokesperson of Prague 10 said after six months of the equipment operation.

Soon, it should be possible to charge a cell phone on “smart bus stops”, too. The first ones will appear on two squares in the centre of Prague (“Mariánské náměstí” and “Petrské náměstí”). This kind of “smart station” was introduced during last year’s international design fair, Designblok. Apart from cellphone charging, it also provides a Wi-Fi connection and an interactive noticeboard.
