Prague’s Vaclav Havel Airport handled almost 7.77 million passengers in the first half of 2025, an 8% year-on-year increase and close to pre-pandemic figures. The airport now expects to surpass its annual record, targeting 18.4 million passengers by the end of the year.

London leads destinations, Dubai tops long-haul routes

According to data from Prague Airport, London remained the most popular destination in the first six months, with nearly 650,000 travelers. Other top European routes included Paris, Amsterdam, and Milan, while Dubai led long-haul destinations. In terms of countries, the United Kingdom topped the list with over one million passengers, followed by Italy, Spain, and France.

Flight activity also rose, with 64,277 take-offs and landings between January and June, marking a more than 7% increase compared to the same period last year. Cargo volumes saw a notable surge as well, climbing by 38% to over 40,000 tonnes.

The first half of the year has nearly matched pre-COVID passenger numbers, with expectations for an even busier second half, especially from July to September. The airport has prepared for peak season by improving check-in processes and boosting staffing to avoid last summer’s widespread delays and baggage issues. So far, no significant disruptions have been reported this year, despite challenges posed by high European air traffic and ongoing geopolitical tensions.

In 2024, Vaclav Havel Airport handled 16.35 million passengers, reaching 92% of its 2019 record. If 2025 meets projections, the airport will set a new all-time high, surpassing the pre-pandemic milestone of 17.8 million travelers.
