If you’re planning a trip to Prague in early May 2025, please note that Prague Castle will be closed to the public on Sunday, May 4, 2025. All ticket offices, information centers, gardens, visitor attractions, and exhibitions within the castle complex will be inaccessible for the entire day.
The castle grounds will close at 11:00 AM, with the last entry allowed at 10:30 AM. The closure will last until 7:00 PM. Be sure to plan your visit to Prague Castle for another day, or adjust your itinerary to explore other attractions in the city.
Notably, the last time Prague Castle was completely closed to the public was during the visit of US President Barack Obama in 2009, making this a rare occurrence. Local media are speculating that the closure is due to a visit from President Zelenskyj, though this has not been officially confirmed.
In addition to the castle closure, the annual Prague Marathon will take place on the same day. This popular event will result in many locations and streets in the downtown area being closed or restricted, especially in the morning and early afternoon. Expect significant changes to public transport routes and limited access to some of Prague’s most famous sights.
