Prague’s public transport network has entered a new era with the opening of the completely modernized Bubny train station and the new Vystaviste stop. This is the first major new railway station in the Czech capital in forty years and is designed to European standards, setting a new benchmark for rail infrastructure in the country.
A New Gateway for Prague and Kladno
The new Bubny station sits at the heart of two important suburban lines. From August 2, 2025, passengers can travel from Bubny towards Kralupy nad Vltavou and Usti nad Labem, while trains from Masarykovo nadrazi to Kladno will start using the station from August 4. For the first time, commuters from Kladno will have a convenient transfer to all Prague metro lines, making daily travel faster and easier.
The modernized line increases capacity, allowing for more frequent train services and smoother connections between the city and its suburbs.
Honoring History and Looking Ahead
The original Bubny station building is being transformed into the Bubny Center for Memory and Dialogue, commemorating the nearly 50,000 Jews deported from this site during World War II. The historic railway bridge over Dukelskych hrdinu Street, built for the 1891 Jubilee Exhibition, will become part of a new exhibition at Masarykovo nadrazi in cooperation with the National Technical Museum.
The Bubny–Vystaviste section is a key phase in the future Prague–Airport–Kladno rail link. The completed Negrelli Viaduct, ongoing work at Masarykovo nadrazi, and upgrades between Kladno and Kladno-Ostrovec are all part of this ambitious project. Further modernization from Prague-Ruzyne to Kladno is set to begin this year, and construction of the underground section from Vystaviste to Dejvice will start next year. By around 2030, travelers should be able to reach Vaclav Havel Airport by train from central Prague.
