Ice Rink Coming to Cechovo Square in Vrsovice This Winter

Vrsovice will get its very own ice rink this winter. The new rink on Cechovo Square will open on the first Advent weekend (November 29 – 30) and stay open until the end of February 2026.

Free skating for local children

All kids from Prague 10 up to 15 years old will be able to skate for free, while weekday mornings will be reserved for local schools. Visitors can look forward to a skate rental service and a small food corner offering warm drinks and snacks – including mulled wine for adults.

Local hockey and community fun

Organisers are planning a friendly mini-hockey tournament between city quarters and several neighbourhood events to bring locals together. “Doing this kind of event for the first time is always a bit of a challenge, but we’re ready for it,” said deputy mayor Pavel Sutka, who shared the news on social media.

Affordable project for the whole season

The district managed to secure the rink for the whole winter for around 740,000 CZK plus VAT and energy costs – a surprisingly low amount given today’s prices. The organisers also promise to minimise any disturbance for nearby residents by carefully managing lighting and noise.

If everything goes to plan, Cechovo Square will become one of the cosiest winter spots in Vrsovice – complete with skating, hot drinks and plenty of festive atmosphere.
