To mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and the Prague Uprising, a specially decorated Škoda 15T tram named “Prague – City of Heroes” has been launched onto the streets of Prague. The tram’s bold design in Czech national colors, along with important historical dates, pays tribute to the courage and resilience of Prague’s citizens during the pivotal events of May 1945.

The tram was officially unveiled on May 6, 2025, in Stromovka Park, with the Mayor of Prague in attendance. After the ceremony, it set off on its inaugural journey across the city on line 18. In the coming months, the tram will be integrated into regular public transport service and will operate on various routes throughout Prague, with plans to remain in service until the end of the year.

Inside the tram, passengers will find educational displays about the Prague Uprising and other significant events in Czech history at the end of WWII. Eleven panels highlight moments such as the fire at the Old Town Hall, the return of Czechoslovak airmen, and the roles of the Russian Liberation Army, Soviet, and American forces in the liberation of the country.
