Starting October 1, passengers flying from Prague’s Vaclav Havel Airport to Schengen destinations will notice a big improvement in comfort. The airport is loosening its strict liquid rules, allowing travelers to carry not only the familiar 100 ml containers in a transparent bag but also a single bottle with a capacity of up to two litres in their hand luggage.
New X-ray Technology Brings Fewer Hassles
Until now, anyone passing through security had to finish drinks before the checkpoint or throw them away. With newly installed advanced X-ray machines in Terminal 2, that will no longer be necessary. The technology can detect liquids inside luggage, so passengers will also no longer need to remove electronics or liquid bags for inspection.
What Exactly Changes?
- You can still carry a resealable bag with 100 ml containers (up to 1 litre total)
- In addition, you can bring one container up to 2 litres
- Liquids and electronics can stay in your cabin bag during security checks
- The new rules apply only to Terminal 2 and flights within the Schengen Area
Terminal 1, which handles flights outside Schengen, remains under the old rules for now, though modernization is already being prepared. For travelers, the change means less stress, fewer queues at security, and the freedom to enjoy their favorite drink even after boarding.
